Liverpool are reportedly stepping up their interest in signing Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga ahead of Chelsea.
The Merseyside giants have already reinforced their midfield with Alexis Mac Allister and they are eyeing more additions.
Veiga is the next name on their radar and Sport claim that they have made a significant contract offer to the youngster.
This has reportedly put them in pole position to sign the 21-year-old, who has opened the door for a Premier League move.
The Spaniard had a fantastic breakout campaign with Celta. He amassed 11 goals and four assists in La Liga last season.
His progress has caught the eye of many European clubs, but the Reds seem determined to beat the competition to sign him.
Liverpool are yet to open talks with Celta but they have no choice, but to pay his €40 million release clause in full.
The La Liga outfit are adamant that they won’t part ways with their prized asset unless the buy-out clause is triggered.
