2021 General Election – Election Advertising period begins
marketing

The election advertising period for third-party advertisers begins May 1, 2021. This is the first day that third parties can begin to share an advertising message that promotes or opposes the election of a candidate. Potential third parties who are planning to engage in election advertising should review their legal obligations.

The Local Authorities Election Act includes information related to finances and accountability of third party advertisers. Third parties that intend to engage in election advertising are required to register and need to complete Form 27 – Registration of a Third Party and return it to Elections Calgary. Please email elections@calgary.ca to return the form or set up a time to drop it off at the office.

More information on what constitutes at third-party advertiser, election advertising and how to register can be found on the Elections Calgary website and by reviewing the Returning Officer Information Brief. A copy of the recent information session presentation and recording can be found online.
